StockPiler's main window is where trades are entered before or after receiving your official broker confirmation for each trade execution.
Day1 is when the trade is opened, buy or sell side. Day2 Transaction Data is left blank until such time the trade is closed. The description of the security is first entered. If the trade is an option trade, the option symbol, e.g. IBMAF, and the expiration date fields are filled in automatically. The number of contracts or shares are then entered, followed by the price. The commission and proceeds are figured, based on your Commissions Set-up Schedule established prior, and are inserted automatically into the fields named 'Calculated Commissions' and 'Calculated Proceeds' respectively. Upon receiving written confirmation of a trade, the commissions and nets, as shown by the broker's report are entered. Any discrepancies with reported vs. calculated commissions become apparent. Click on the toolbar button W to determine wash sales scenarios if a stock trade resulted in a loss. Click on this W also if entering a buy option trade (put or call) or any stock trade, to scan the database for stock losses for which this new trade's basis may need to be adjusted as a result of a prior 'wash sale' scenario. If prices are downloaded, the window is automatically updated with the new price and as-of date of each open security. Portfolio, market value, and net liquidating balances are automatically updated as well. After downloading prices, clicking on the
